Spray Foam Insulation

Spray Foam Insulation has become the most popular insulation option over the last few years, and there are obvious reasons why. But is it the right option for you? That can be determined if you are interested in learning more about your options and types of insulation available. We can come by your property to evaluate your situation and work with you to find a product that will deliver results that you are looking for. Spray Foam Insulation does offer superior results compared to other insulation options which is why in most cases that is what we recommend.

Spray Foam Insulation is made of two components that are mixed together as it gets installed in your building. The first is polyol resin, which can be made from plants or petroleum. It comes in liquid form and it contains hydroxyl groups. The polyol resin can be either flexible or rigid depending on the desired result of the insulation installation process. The second component is isocyanate which is a very reactive chemical compound. Typically the isocyanate that is used in spray foam is polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (PMDI).

When the two components mix, they react to create a very strong and durable insulation foam. This mixture and reaction is called polymerization, which allows it to expand and solidify as foam. Since it does use some complex chemical components, it is best installed by a team of professionals like us. While there are potential harmful health effects that could come about from these chemicals, it is really only an issue if the compounds are mishandled or if there is exposure to them before the mixing process. That means that the majority of the risk is on us as we complete the installation. We have dedicated training programs before our licensed professionals are allowed to work on customer projects, so you can be confident in our process and results.

Because of these complex chemical compounds, the resulting spray foam insulation is superior to all other insulation types. It has the highest R-value on the market, meaning it offers the best insulation and thermal resistance like attic and home insulation. The air sealing qualities of the spray foam are probably the most important aspect of its effectiveness. It expands as it is installed and it adheres to the surface, sealing all the cracks and crannies that may have been letting air seep in or out before. Closed-cell spray foam is impermeable to vapor and water. So once it is installed, it creates a moisture barrier, which reduces condensation and thus eliminates the common issue of mold and other moisture related issues.

When it expands, it is able to completely fill the space, which allows it to be very useful for unique circumstances or hard to reach areas. This adaptability lets it be successful in every area of the home, in ceilings, floors, walls, you name it, it works. This also allows this type of insulation to work well both in new construction projects and even on already built buildings. And lastly, it has an extremely long lifespan. It does not degrade at all over time, so it will still provide great insulation years into the future. And with its strength also allows the overall structural integrity of a building to be even stronger and more durable. If this sounds good to you, then let us get to work on implementing spray foam insulation to your home or office space today.
